• Rant on Kuhmo's

It seems every time someone asks for advice regarding what brand of tires to get the name Kuhmo never fails to come up as a good choice.

I for one took this advice. I purchased Kuhmos 711's (245/50r/16).

First couple of weeks I was ok with these tires. Now 3 months into these I have to say these are some of the greasest tires I have ever owned. It seems like once they start heating up at all that they have been coated with crisco.

Now these tires are not worn. They still have the little rubber knobby things on them.

Maybe it's just defective tires. Who knows. All I can say is that the next time I need new tires I will not get kuhmo's.

Just had to rant about this so maybe another member will not make the same mistake as i did.

I have 712's.. they are "ok" for the money.. however there are MANY much better options out there.. I dont think i will run 712's again..

but for the money i cant complain..

I dont even want to imagine running 711's

I run 711's. Not the end of the world! I cut 2.3's For $56 a tire I couldn't complain! Like $300 when it was all said and done. Not sure if I'd do it again ...

Like i said in my opinion the actual (read between the lines) price was too high. I should have re ordered summitomos. Oh well.

The 712s with the higher speed rating will have slightly better dry traction.

You can't beat kumho for the price. Just can't.

Yeah I had some 714's that I got 37k out of. They were pretty much bricks. But I did pull a 2.09 60' w/ them.

The RSA's I'm running now are so much better handling wise.

I ordered the 712s... I haven't had them long and I have heard of 2 major problems...

1- they wear quickly
1- after they get heat cycled for awhile they start to get hard, and not as soft as when they were new...

but like said for the price... hell they were the cheapest tire anywhere for the size I got.

Buty I have heard lots of good things about sumitomo HTRZ's, I might pick up some as my next set if I get tires agains for this car.

i had Kumho 711's on my car last summer but due to a bent tie rod it wore the front's out fast. The backs were good though. Then i fixed that and put the non-worn one's in the front to get the wore one's kinda evened out and they were good tires. That thing had good traction in dry conditions i know that for sure. gave me good OFF the Line traction. Now i got 712's and i haven't put them on yet. I hope they are good tires. I beat my 711's bad and they weren't too bad so we'll see :D
