  • Two different tire sizes on the same car?

If I mount 255/40/17 on the front and 255/45/17 on the back would there be a noticable diferance in the look of the car? also what would the ride be like? does any one have this setup? and what would I need to do to the speedo to keep it in check. I am mounting this tires on a 17X9.5 wheels.

their wouldnt be much of difference at all really and the speedo shouldnt be a problem, Im running 245/40/18 up front and 275/40/18's in the rear and you can tell a difference but i like the look, looks mean.

i believe this might be a problem if you have 4-wheel abs. the wheels are going to spin at slightly different speeds and possibly confuse the abs system.

true I didn't think about that.

i have 245/45/16 kdw's on the front, and 255/50/16 yoko's on the back, as for the speedo, its close, because the rear tires are .14" taller, but for everyday driving, its no big deal, if you have to get on the breaks hard, you can feel the abs wanting to kick in but it doesn't, then if you get on the breaks REAL hard the abs kicks in no problem, and btw the 245/45/16's are 24.68" and the 255/50/16's are 26.18" so there is quite a bit of difference, but don't effect drivability in a bad way.

          255/40/17 - 25.03"
          255/45/17 - 26.04"
          so you'll be fine...
          and
          245/40/18 - 25.72"
          275/40/18 - 26.66"
          just if your curious...

but a 255 on a 9.5" rim is stretching it.

            275 comes stock on a 9" rim.

I have 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/18 in the rear and have no troubles with them. And those are a pretty big difference in size. They look real mean, and they have very nice traction and cornering abilities. Occasionally when on a slick surface, like ice patches, the ABS will kick in prematurely since the tires roll differently, but I think this would happen at any time since you slide some in ice. F-body's suck in icy conditions in general though. But overall, as far as regular driving goes I'd never know that they were different sized tires. Car rides very nice.
