My brakes are finally on and working well... but im still having problems. I didnt notice it today, but when i turn the car hard to the left I hear a rubbing noise. It sounds like its coming from the back i think. When it rubs, its not a constant noise, where it just rubs for a few seconds and then stops, but instead its rub...rub...rub.... Because of that i thought maybe the calipers were rubbing the back of the spokes on the wheels, but there is no sign of wear on the back of the wheels. I see no scratches on any wheels, and I went back today and tied up all of the brake lines i bent myself. They should all be pretty well out the way, but ill have to check for sure again tomorrow. Is it possible that the ebrake cable above the drive shaft is somehow coming in contact with it as the car banks? I sure hope its not something with the differential, but i dont think it is since its only when i turn real hard, not on every turn. I cant see anywhere else that ebrake lines or brake lines would be rubbing. I didnt move anything else, and i dont think that the calipers are rubbing anything. If anyone has any ideas let me know. Hockeyman, i know youve been following my progress on this. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them

Rubbing noise after installing brakes....

Is it only when you turn left? And what kind of rubbing noise do you mean? Sorry for the questions, but I'm having hard time thinking of what you mean. Did you put a cable tie on the e-brake cables to hold them together above the driveshaft? I imagine it's possbile that if not, they could come in contact w/something and make some noise. The only other thing I can think of that I dealt with that was similar was that when I first got my car, there was a rubbing/scraping noise coming from the right rear. The axle bearing was bad, the spring from the seal was caught up in it. It was a PITA to replace, but that was the source of my noise. It's probably not that on yours though, or else it would be more constant.Psykopig16: well the car will run with a broken crank..<br />RevLimit478: yeah, it\'ll run like a fat kid in summer

Take a look at the inside of the rear wheelwells to see if there any new areas that a tire may be rubbing. I don't think the e-brake cables are rubbing if they are tied up properly.
I had a similar problem back in dec of 2002. My rear suspension would rub horribly when I made a left turn. Turns out that the panhard bar broke out of it's mount when I installed the rear. I didn't install the panhard bar correctly near rear left wheel, and it broke out of it's mount. I welded the broken part together and installed it correctly, and the rub is history.
My advice is look at everything carefully to see if there any new rubbing marks, then anylize it from there. It may just be a worn shock or spring.

it sounds like a deep rubbing noise, either rough metal or maybe rubber on plastic. ill check the tires, i didnt even think of that. it almost seems to be going away on its own, but you can still hear it a bit on very hard turns. i have checked the insides of the wheels in detail marc and i sure couldnt see anything, but ill check it again later. the ebrakes lines are tied together above the driveshaft and seem to be out of the way. I guess i could try making some hard turns in neutral and see if that makes a difference, since the DS wouldnt be spinning?? ive looked for other scrapes all around I couldnt see anything really noticable. Ill keep an eye out for a while to make sure nothing new develops. Thanks for the advice guys.
