    Air Lift's "Drag Bags" solve the torque vs. traction equalization issue for drag racers! On a rear-wheel-drive car, engine torque creates a twisting effect which presses down on the left rear and right front wheels creating a corresponding lift on the rear rear and left front. Every drag racing fan has seen this body twisting action as a car leaves the line. This lift on the right rear results in it doing less work since there's less weight and consequently it will spin the right rear more than the left. To get maximum possible forward thrust, both tires must be equally loaded. Pre-loading your suspension with a set of drag bags air springs evens up the loads between the two wheels to achieve maximum potential forward thrust.

      I saw these is Chevy High Performance I think, and they had them on a 97 SS camaro, and it was tuned for cornering. It was amazing, about zero body roll. There have been some advances in air, I always thought it was for ride comfort like the lincolnc and cadillacs, or for trailering/towing like on 18 wheelers and such.

        I dont think they are the same thing. You miht be thinking of Air Ride Technology, air stuts

          I figure out what is does.

          These are used to increase spring rate.

          Taken from Air lift
          Air Lift 1000 is made from a very durable polyurethane material and is inserted into the vehicle's stock coil springs. When filled with air, it increases the spring rate, or ability to support a load. Because of its design, Air Lift 1000 products are best stated as load support products, rather than lifting products.

          The Air Lift 1000 products function much different from Super Duty and Ride Control kits. When charged with air the bag will grow in all directions much like blowing up a balloon. Controlling the growth requires a coil spring to hold it into shape and funnel its spring energy into its length. The bag's spring rate comes from compressing its length and also from the bag being wedged in between the coils of the spring. Over inflating the bag can cause the wedging to become too severe and therefore causing the material to thin, which in turn, causes a decrease in spring rate and a premature failure.

            I have a single bag that's going in the passenger side. Got it back in November, but haven't put it in yet. I'll have to experiment with it a little to figure out the right psi to run in it at the track. Just enough to help equalize the available traction at each rear tire...

                  The admin over at ls1tech posted up today that he runs 15psi in a passenger side bag with drag radials and 20psi when running slicks...

                    They are great if you are putting out a lot of power on launch and your rear squats a lot. Would obviously be very beneficial for someone spraying off the line with slicks.
