  • How to tell if your car is lowered or not?

My car always looked a lot lower then other camaros. I thought the shocks were shot but the shocks don't have anything to do with holding the back end up do they? Thats the springs job, which let me to beleive that the kid that had the car before me lowered the *** end a bit? How can I tell if it was lowered or not by the springs, etc... I'm not really feeling the whole car being lowered thing. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Measure it and let us know. It should be roughly 27-28 inches to the highest part of the wheel well. I'm talking about the body, not the inner wheel well.

look at the springs. stock springs are black and have a texture to them. usually they have a yellow sticker tag on them too. thats assuming they havent been cut ;)

I've always noticed that base V6 Camaros look lower that other camaros. The RS's also look lower than the current Camaros with the "sport appearance package".

Ok I measured the height of the top wheel well to the ground on a flat surface and I came up with 27 1/8 inches. For all sides. I looked at the springs and they are black but have a white tag on them, maybee the tag faded from yellow to white over the years. The tires are P215/60R16. But the cars back definatley looks lower then most camaros I have parked it next too. Even 6cyls i've compared it too have more space between the tire and the top wheel well. I've thought it could be the size of tire thats on there maybee? I don't know too much about tires but i've also rememered something just now. I think my car could have been an RS before. I ran the VIN # before and every place says it's an RS, when I bought the car it had no emblems on it except for the front nose badge and it almost looks like under the front fenders theres a place to attatch something there that I haven't noticed on other camaros. I honestly don't know, I just know that every camaro I see looks a lot higher then mine. I definatley want it to look like all the other camaros and not have the *** end sag down. What should I do?

Thats high enough to be considered not lowered. Assuming the stock shocks are still on the rear, replacing them might raise the car alittle: 1/4 or 1/2 inch. You can get Takeoff v8 shocks for like 25 buck from slp.

My brother changed from stock to eibach springs and bilstien shocks in the rear and it went from 27 3/4 to 26 3/4.

            I hope this helps some.

I think i'll consider the takeoff v8 shocks. Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.
