  • I need new brakes

Well Its time for new brakes on my 97 firebird. I'm trying to decide what to do. Do you guys think I should put OEM replacement parts on or put some aftermarket brakes on? Keep price in consideration. Thanks fella's.

you mean rotors and pads, or changing brakes system, like new calipers? Personally, I wouldnt pay for the slotted/ drilled rotors. I just buy the best replacement rotors the auto parts store has and get a set of ceramic pads to cut down on dust.

I disagree. I'm working on brakes myself, and IMO stopping power isn't something you wanna take cheap shortcuts on, especially when that huge dog runs out in front of you or the a$$hole you got behind slams on the brakes and turns with no signal. Any decent set of slotted rotors on the front will be about $200+ depending on the brand. I've heard good things about ceramic pads as well. I'm going with a steel-braid brake line kit for all 4 wheels, Brembo slotted front rotors from TireRack, Super Blue fluid, and ceramic pads all the way around.

I just got Hawk HPS pads and ATE Superblue fluid. I haven't had a chance to put them yet in but have heard great things about both.
