Wanted to give everyone an update. The caliper swing-arm WAS bent, thanks to TransAmCreations selling me bad parts. They made every excuse in the world, but wouldn't own up to their error. I ended up using the bad caliper I bought from them as a core charge at my local parts store. That was the first problem.
The second problem, and the one that makes you want to scratch your head, was that the mechanic did some "modifications" to my brake pad. Before we decided that the caliper arm was bent, he had CUT the edges of the pad off with a disc grinder, thinking they might have been too tight in the bracket. That makes no sense. His cut pad sat loose in the caliper, even after I replaced the caliper and arm. This greatly reduced brake effectiveness.
Replacing the bent parts (burn in Hell TACreations) helped, but replacing the cut pad helped even more. My buddy and I spend a half hour on a saturday morning swapping out the pads, and it's working better than I could have hoped for. The car decelerates very smoothly, and has much better stopping power. My rears are wearing evenly, and I didn't seem to need a proportioning valve. I now have a complete set of drum brakes up for sale, which I might post in the right section later on.

Now that everything is fixed and works, are you happy with the disks Vs durms?

How much was the set from TAcreations? Will it work on a 94?

I'm very happy with the discs. I get moderate traffic on the way back from classes, and this is a lot smoother now. It also makes quick cornering more predictable at higher speeds, I can transfer just the right amount of the car's weight when throwing my lowered car thru the twisties.
I had blown out one of the drum cylinders (can't have much fun on drums without them giving out), which is what prompted me to do the change over. Drums are way too complicated for me to figure out, I would have had to pay a shop to repair them for me. That's like $200 everytime a part goes bad. Disc brakes are pretty simple though, and I can repair those with ease.
The savings in labor alone are worth the cost of converting to me. Trans Am sold me the convert kit for like $110 I think. That included 2 calipers, 2 axle brackets, and the two e-brake cables. They were supposedly selling me working parts, but one of the calipers was a complete loss, the car it came off of seems to have been involved in an accident which hit that wheel. TACreations obviously knew that, but were happy to pass off a broken part onto me. Unless you're going to the TACreations place in person, don't expect good parts. It still helps to get the parts, even if they are bad, because you can use them as core charges for new parts (my remanufactured caliper with a 1-year warrantee was $45 from my parts store, after a $75 core charge).
The disc kit WILL work on a 94. All the 93-97 rear discs were the same. I honestly don't know what year car mine came off, but they work well, so I don't care much either. I can send pics if anyone wants to see how it turned out.
