  • Which shocks for the rear?

Ok, so the decision for new shocks seems to be a hot topic lately. I did a search, but geeeex, there's just so many different threads and they go on forever, it's hard to find what I'm looking for.

My situation: I've got a set of Eibach springs on the way. I believe it's a 1.5 inch drop. So anyways, I need a good set of shocks to go with em. I'm pretty set on the Bilstein HDs for the front. Not to bad at $83.21 (shipped) each when the stockers cost $74.28 at Advance. My concern is the rear shocks. I don't know if I want the Bilstein HDs or not. 70.31 (shipped) each isn't bad, but what other options do I have for the rear shocks. I've heard a little about the Edelbrock IAS or something like that. What should I do for the rear, or does anybody have a better sugguestion.

Come on, somebody has to have a good opinion on the rear shocks. Is there a cheaper alternative to the Bilstein HDs for the back? Any ideas at all would be appreciated. I just don't like the thought of paying 70 bucks each for them if there is a better alternative for a lowered vehicle.

mis matching shocks = bad idea..

go with hd's in the back also.. that or if you are fealing saucy another good option is he 3rd gen bilstines.. they have similar valving but are a little softer..

spring and shock combos are a VERRRRRRRRRRRY hard thing to really understand.. heck I will even admit that i dont know enough to give more then basic advice.. however.. if you have any more REALLLLY technical questions call sam strano..

Wellp, I ordered the Bilstein HDs from Bimmerparts.com at 1:30 pm yesterday. They were on my doorstep today at 4:00 pm. I guess there's my solution. My only problem now, one of the nuts that go on the end of the strut is missing. I don't know if I lost it, or if it didn't make it all the way here. Either way, any ideas on a replacement?
