They are the stock tires for Y87 and most W68s. They are an improvement over the base 215/60/16 tires, but thats about all.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Yeah, but if you want to go rambo, get the 255-50-16's. They are a really nice tire that fits great, besides the 17" rims.

235-55-16 is the regular size for the v6 f-body with alloy wheels. The v8 versions came with 245-50-16, which is a little wider tire.

"are they aftermarket or are these just pretty much normal tires"

Depends. Goodyear currently makes three different tires in that size, and made others in the past. Some are OK original equipment stuff, some quality aftermarket.

I'm not a big fan of the stock goodyears. After mine wore out I switched to 235-55-16 Daytons. They last longer than the Goodyears, are a lot less expensive, and have a much better wet-road grip to them. I priced a set of the Goodyears at almost $600, and I get Daytons for less than $400 with free lifetime rotation and road hazard repair.

              Go with P245/50R16 or P255/50R16
              See what tirerack has.

              I recommend the 245/50 Yokohama ES100s.
