  • Brake Overhaul gone bad; need help!!

I am following this guide for rebuilding my calipers. Everything is going well, EXCEPT getting the dust boot out! I've tried prying, yanking, scraping and everything, and now the dust boot is mostly torn :( . Are there any times to getting this goddamn POS out totally? I want to hurry up so I can install my sweet new ceramic brake pads.

Did you buy the rebuild kit? I had to cut my old seals out with a razor knife. After removing the old seals and cleaning the inside of the piston(s), the new seals went right in without any problems.
Please tell me you bought the rebuild kit...! The old seals literally get burnt into place from excessive heat and need to be replaced when doing a rebuild.

I did, and I actually found out what I did wrong...I didn't realize the dust boot was rubber WRAPPED in an outer thick metal ring. I realized this after looking at the new seal (should've studied that earlier in the day). Anyhow I'm going to finish it up tommorrow and hopefully it will go quick; thanks for the response!
