  • Corvette brake upgrade

Okay i have heard alot about this and even searched. However it is all kind of in bits and pieces. Can someone who knows what they are talking about tell me exactly what i will need to do to pull this off? Cause i am thinking about switching my frount brakes to Corvette brakes.

I believe ls1.com has a few write ups - I havent done it. Fbody brakes are excellent in 98+ model cars so why are you wanting to do this? Do you roadrace? have you tried better pads?

Go to the F-Body Road Racing and Autocross forums at www.frrax.com and search in the Braking forum there. Lots of good info (the guys that make them are active members), and you might be able to get a set of brackets in the Classifieds there.

just an FYI- I'm pretty sure that when you do the vette upgrade you must run at least 17" rims. I did some research on this a while ago, and I think thats why I ended up not doing it. again, I'm not 100% but I think thats the deal.

Correct, since you will be using 13" rotors.

Something else to think about... apparently when you run the C5 brakes you need to either get a different spare tire or just forget about using the stock one over the new brakes. Same reasoning as using the 17" rims, but a lot of people probably wouldn't think about this until they need the spare and its too late.
