is it ok to have 2 different size tires...(P225 and P235) on car for a few months..in
Hey guys...i guess my alignment was off for a few months and the outer edges of both front tires are goign bald and the steel belt is coming through. When i bought the car they had the wrong size tires (P225 60R16) and now i need to replace just 2 but i want to go with the correct size of (P235 55R16). However I only have enough to replace 2 tires now and 2 in the winter. Will it hurt to put the P225's that are on the back to the front now and then put the new P235's on the rear...????
Any suggestions...?
the width isn't that big of a factor, as long as you have the same 2 sizes on the front and the same 2 sizes on the back your good to go... but you need to make sure that the tire heights are the same for the fronts and the backs, and why not go with P245 while your at it?
hey redbird00....
I would love to get 245/50R16's right now for the rear and put the 225's up front, but I thought you said they would have to be the same height??? Did you mean all 4 tires have to be the same height, or the each pair?? I knwo it will look funny but might as well do it now.
Let me know if its ok to do that,
Thanks,
Rob Oleksa
I drove around for a month and a bit with 235/55/16's on the front, and 245/50/16's on the back. Like was said before...just don't mix and match them then your good to go.

why is it so bad to mix/match tire sizes? sorry but i'm not too sure about this topic. I have 255/40/17s in the front and 275/35/18s in the rear...everything seems fine to me.
