You can get up to 255 width tires w/ an 8 inch rim... I myself have kumho ecasta supra 712's... 255/60/16, Z rated on the stock 16x8's

Very sticky tire, love 'em to death. 100% improvement over stock tires.

25.3 mm = 1 inch, your tire can be up to about 2 inches wider than the rim, but no more.

What about 315/30/17? Can you fit those on a 17x9.5?

I tried to put a set of corvette take-offs with 315/30/17's on my rears - they were used at discount tire... I dont know if it was the wheel offset or what but they hit the inner fender well.. even if the offset was different they would stick stick way out and look ghetto... Stick with 275/40 if you got 17's

              my rear tires are 315/35/17

on an 11 inch wide wheel.

all it has done is slowed me down......alot.
