I saw some 17 X 8.5 rims I liked. What's the largest width tire I can put on those? Should I go with 18 x 9.5 instead? Thanks

I think 8.5 you Can go with 265... not sure...

they do make 17X9.5, which is pretty common, and the tire 275/40/17 fits nicely on it and since its commone its a little cheaper in the tire department then similar sizes.

off hand my car has 17X9.5 with 275/40/17 tires...

just a warning with 18s, seems like price per tire goes up about $40-50 going form 17-18 in. rims.

Just stuff to consider for the future.

Cool, but the ones i like only come in 8.5s. The c5 rims on ebay. They dont list them in the 9.5. I emailed them about it, no letter back yet....17 x 9.5 sounds perfect

i got 275/35/18 on my 9.5's. If doing it again i would go 8.5 width. My car follows grooves and cracks too much for my liking.
