ok, so i got new back tires today (they got rotated and to the front and the front tires which i got last summer were balanced and moved to the back). my car still shakes pretty bad when i'm braking...but only at certain braking points. and then when i'm 70mph+ the car and steering wheel shake just a little bit. i assume the high mph shaking is probably somewhat normal, maybe a front end is a little out of line? but what about the braking, you def. think it's my rotors that are warped, or could it still be the front end out of line? thx.

Shaking when braking is almost always rotors. Unless there are loose parts in the front end...
Especially if the shaking is more pronounced at higher speeds.
Alignment problems will show up as the car pulling to one side, or abnormal tire wear.\'98 A4 Camaro v6->v8 conversion, and STS kit next
v6: 13.6 Powerdyne, 13.2 150 shot, 13.8 120 shot, 14.3 85 shot, 15.7 stock
v8(na): 12.18@113, 392rwhp
Moderator on www.mtfba.org and www.frrax.com (Road Race & Autocross)
Car pics, TN Region SCCA

john, are we talking about really bad shaking at high speeds or just minor shakes? cause it isn't really that bad at high speeds and as a matter of a fact, it could just be that i'm really paranoid about it and mentally picturing the shakes to be worse than they really are.2000 NBM M6 Camaro Z28
323/335

The same thing happened to my mustang before I traded it... you need new rotors... most cars will have a little vibration in the 80+ range if you have the stock parts and haven't maintained them (as I hadn't) or custom parts that are loose or installed incorrectly. When braking though, the front tires in my case didn't shake everytime, but when they did, you thought the car was going to fall apart. If I were a betting man (and I am), I'd bet the hogs on a new set of rotors ;)

Depends on how warped the rotors are... If they are warped quite a bit, it can shake hard from a quick decel from 80 down to 60, and will ease up when you let off the brake. If they are warped a little, the car won't shake so much, but the steering wheel will wiggle back and forth just a little, usually from speeds over 55, but not much below that.
From reading your other post about the new gears, sounds like you are getting a little worked up about the car... That's understandable, getting ready to tie some money up in it...
I went through some of that feeling, while putting my exhaust on. Spent somewhere around $1600... Started thinking "what the heck am I doing?!"
You'll like the 3.42 lsd a lot, when you get it on there. :D
And the shaking is semi-normal. A lot of these cars have some warping. I've lived with mine for a while. New rotors would fix it. I think hitting the rotors with cold water at the car wash while they're hot does some of that... If it's not real bad, you should be ok. Eventually throw some new rotors on there if it still bothers you.
I toy around with the idea of some of those Eradispeed rotors... A little leery of the crossdrilling, but like the idea of less rotating mass and less unsprung weight...
Really though, the mileage on your car isn't bad, and it doesn't sound like you have anything significantly wrong with it. In fact, sounds like you have improved the reliability of it with the fixes you made so far.
