does anyone know the correct tire pressure for our cars, it should say on the inside of the drivers side door or the owners manual correct? I need to know because I don't have either the sticker on the door or an owners manual and I know my tires are getting low. BTW I don't have the OEM tires I have Dunlop SP 5000s

30 psi, according to the owner's manual and this website(techinical database). Check to see if tire has minimum pressure though. I run 32 in my Kumhos. Max pressure 44psi. Could'nt find a minimum pressure on the sidewalls.

Usually 28-30 on family cars, 32+ on sports cars. I used to run 33 on everything.

I get the best dry handling on my Camaro at 35 psi.

I dropped the rears down to 30 a couple of weeks ago, and haven't aired them back up yet. The car just about got away from me yesterday, I was going sideways down the road for a little bit, in a long drift that I almost overcorrected on...

Because I was accustomed to the way it normally handles at 35 psi, and pushed the car beyond what the tires would take at only 30 psi.

The local walmart said I would wear the centers down if I ran them at 35, but that is not the case.

This is my first replacement set, and I have over 76000 miles on the car. No abnormal wear on the originals or the second set. The second set has over 50% tread left.

My co-worker has a Z28 and he says his door placard states to put it at 32lbs on all four. I got the same tires and I put 32 on all of them.

BTW, how are those rotors and pads compared to stock? How long had you had them and what mileage??

        thx

It should say on the side walls of the tires what pressure they are rated for. Each type (brand and model) is made for a different pressure. I'd say to look at what the tires say.

Stock pressure is indeed 30psi front/30psi rear.

However, this is only recommended for P235/55R16 poor wearing Eagle GAs. Even with mine at 25psi they'll wear the centers.

I owned some SP5000s for a while, loved them every mile I drove on them too. I ran my rear at 32 and my front at 35 - it worked well for them.

If you want to be precise, try wetting the driveway a little and backing across the wetness - it'll leave a wet track. You can then measure the wet track and see if its the width of the tread or not. If the wet track is too narrow, lower the pressure - or if the middle is missing, air them up! You can easily find the "proper" tire pressure for street driving this way .

The pressure on the side of the tire is only the absolute maximum pressure the tire can take. If you use that on most any vehicle, you'll be way overinflated.

I did this once on a rental car - it caused a blow out. 42psi in all 4 tires NOT A GOOD THING.

Only pump your tires this far if you need it for sidewall roll protection in AutoX - for street driving it is NOT ADVISEABLE. Somewhere between 30-37psi you will find your proper tire pressure.
