Swaybar Survey. Everybody with Swaybars Look!

I want to buy some swaybars. I already have Eibach Sportlines and Bridgestone RE730 245/50 ZR16 tires. The car handles great, but could be better! If you have swaybars, please list what kind, what difference you noticed when you installed them, and how they make the car handle.

Also post what springs you have, the two are strongly related, since the springs provide a large amount of antiroll.

Stock '98 springs and 1LE sway bars with 1LE endlinks. They are an AWESOME mod. You'll notice an immediate and huge change in roll during corners and they help eliminate nose diving durning braking.

I've got the 1LE's on the front and rear of my car. EXCELLENT mod. I've heard that this is the biggest reccomended size for a daily driver, its the best compromise between comfort/performance.

If you are on a tight budget Z28 swaybars with energy suspension bushings and SS valved shocks are very nice.

The sway bar, subframe connectors and springs are by far the best suspension mods yet.

I agree with 94-3.4, email Scott @ Speed Automotive and pick up a set of Z28 swaybars (30mm front / 19mm rear) for like $40 total, IMO the extra $$$ for the 1LE bars isn't worth it unless you plan on doing some serious auto-X or something.

21mm Rear, 32mm front. Major oversteer until I installed the front (months / a year? later). Poly endlinks. BMR STB. Handles like a charm! Would definitely reccommend. Paint them blue first. [img]smile.gif[/img]
Note: +4mm rear and +2mm front is very unbalanced (percentage wise). So beware.

It's a lot more than a percentage. Because the stiffness goes up as the 4th power of the diameter (DXDXDXD) the increase in the stiffness of the rear bar is much greater than that of the front. That's why some have found this combo to have significant oversteer. Indeed, beware.

This statement is weird. When the nose dives the swaybars simply pivot in their mounts with almost no resistance. How could they possibly reduce dive?

I have no idea why this happens either. I didn't expect it as a benefit, but felt it while driving. It was unmistakeable. I then read up on sway bars more and did read somewhere that less nose diving can in fact be achieved with a larger front bar.

1LE sway bars & endlinks, front & rear. If you have a '95, getting a sway bar off a Z28 wont't do you much good, since both are 30mm. The only difference between your sways and a Z's are on the back, yours is 17mm, the Z's is 19mm. Might as well hit up some 1LE parts ;)

Just curious about your sway bars, you mention the front as being 44mm, which is over one-&-a half inches in diameter, but checking Addco's page, the largest diameter front sway bar is roughly 32mm, the same size as the 1LE front sway bar. Not a flame, just curious.

Actually, its listed in the cataloge as 1.75" front and 1.5" rear. I just guesstimated it to be 44 and 38 mm since everyone uses international measurements.
Yeah, I noticed that too after I bought them. Not sure why they aren't listed. But I got them from Speedtek, a local speed shop and they had a list of ALL of Addco's stuff.....

That must have been a misprint. Measure them yourself.
