  • Removing front calipers 97 car y87

Ok i am doing my brakes right... i take off the wheel and what not so i'm at the caliper

i use the c clamp to depress the piston and it goes in so now I go to remove the bolts...

    strange... no bolts??!?!

so I removed what appered to be black rubber covers... so that slid right out... ok... now what I thought was the caliper pistons are blocking me from removing the caliper off the rotor to replace the pads..

so i look at the left over metal bar that is preventing me from sliding the caliper off and the front of it has what looks to be a opening to use a rather large allen wrench??

WTF is that I need help!?!?!!!

NO, NO, NO!! You took apart the caliper!

The caliper to bolted to the spindle by two bolts. They are what you remove.

    Here is a picture.

-Remove the allen wrench bolts and the caliper will slide upwards (off).
-The caliper is sometimes a B*TCH to remove, but it'll come loose after a few indecent words.
-I remove the master cylinder cap, then slowly depress the piston in with the c-clamp.
-Install the new pads in the caliper, and place back on the rotor.
          -Reinstall the allen wrench bolts.

**Start car, leave it in park, and slowly depress the brake pedal a few times to build up pressure.

I think you'll have to stick your head inside the wheel well and look at the calipers from the opposite side, then you'll see the 2 bolts holding it on.

Maybe you're already doing that, if so, ignore this, if not, try it.
