  • Mismatched tire question.

I've decided I want 255/50 kumho ecsta's on the rear but they don't makea 235/55 which I need for the front (I've got that size on now and it still scrapes a little). Would it look odd with 255/50s on the rear and 225/55s on the front?

Shouldn't look bad at all. The larger side wall on the 225 will match the smaller one on the 255. I think it will look fine.

If you go with anything smaller in the front, go with 245/50, 235/55, 225/55, or 215/60

They should look fine, but I don't know why you'd want to restrict your rotation and handling capabilities by doing that. 255's really aren't terribly wide tires for the front IMO.

The 255s are for the back, I want beefier tires back there. I can't use anything wider than a 235/55 up front because they already scrape.

235's should not even come close to rubbing in the front. I'm running 255/45's and they don't rub. Do you have something done to your car that would make the tires rub?

Yep, my wheels have an offset so anything to wide scrapes (including the 235s).

He might have a negative(deepdish)offset on his wheels. Mine are like that also. Certain wheels are made different. The more it sticks out, the better chance it will scrape in the front.

They stick out just pas the edge of the car, I have the truck version. I love the way it looks but it scrapes a little at low speeds.
