• V8 Springs and shocks 1le parts?

Ok, I was looking to stiffen up my ride a little bit, I have the BMR STB installed and I will probably be needing new shocks pretty soon, I have bout 60k miles on it, I was wondering which set of springs and shocks should i put on my car? I really don't want to lower it any, and I don't want to spend too much. I saw in the tech database that the difference between the v6 springs and the v8 ones was basically the tension. I want the ride to be stiffer and handle better, but not too teribly much. I want to go with the 1le if possible, or i just might order maybe the springs and shocks for the 98+ Any info would help thanks!!!

And I saw the post about the decarbon shocks and springs, is that the same thing that i am looking at , just cheeper, is so that would be sweet. I just need some help bout this, cuz i don't want to spend too much, but again i don't want crappy parts

That depends how much you want to spend. I got 1LE(94s) Decarbons and springs. The shocks are twice as thick as stock. Springs are also much stiffer. I only installed the rear, will do the front in a week. I also got 1LE sway bars. Front one will be on in a week also. It's a very good improvement so far. Rear feels way more controlable. Before it had this spongy feeling.

Dom - By putting the stiff springs, shocks, and swaybar on only the back end, you have created an oversteering monster. If you have to make a quick manuever you're likely to spin, and it will be very hard to recover.

Personally I wouldn't drive the car that way, period.

Folks, don't do this. If you're going to mod, mod both ends at the same time.

Okay. I didn't have time to do both at once. Did you read half of what I wrote??? Thank you for the wise words.

"Folks, don't do this. If you're going to mod, mod both ends at the same time"

DUH!!! Never did I say do just the rear end. Relax oh saviour of humanity, master of all knowledge of suspension. Every one on here was going to do just the rear, untill you warned them.

I want everyone to know that I'm doing the front in a week as I said before. So you all may come out on the public roads again.

Dom - I'm sorry if I offended you. Yes, I read what you wrote carefully. I don't think anyone would just do the rear, I think they might think it's OK to do one end at a time. It's not.

I know I come on too preachy sometimes, but this one is scary.

Aren't the V8 springs for the front different than the V6 for the front. The V8 springs are made to handle the added weight of the larger motor. If you install these on a V6 wont it cause the front end to be slightly higher?

When I installed my 1LE Swaybars/Endlinks, I noticed a huge difference. When you move the steering wheel, the car turns NOW. Excellent bang-for-the-buck.

"i have a convertable so i really need to stiffen her up"

Subframe connectors. Brand not critical, be sure to get ones made for a convert, installed by someone who knows what they're doing. Otherwise the stiff springs will flex the body even more.

Made a big difference on my convert, as measured by the "stick a finger between the dash and the door" method. :D
