If you don't know what you are doing...have someone else do it...no sense dying because you didn't want to shell out a few bucks to see how its done. Have someone teach you how to do it in person.98 Bright Red Camaro
Too many mods to list....check my website

Basically you've told a pregnant lady you can deliver a baby and you've started to deliver it and you've got her legs spread wide open and shes screaming and now you're asking what to do... except a spring can slip off and knock your head off, whereas most babies flying out of a woman cannot.
I am not going tell you how to use a spring compressor because I don't want the guilty conscience when it slips off and takes the bump between your shoulders with it.
If you do not know how to use this it can be very dangerous and you should take it somewhere to have it done.

"im having a prob"
Sigh - at the risk of pissing you off.
This is an extremely dangerous job. Any prob is a red flag warning that disaster is around the corner. Maybe you have the wrong tool? Who knows what's up?
This could kill you. Dead. $50 is a bargain.

I had that problem already three times, the top nut was too badly rusted (when you reassamble it put some grease or something like that over it to protect it from incoming water). I had to cut the shock absorber shaft with a saw to get the spring out (of course with the spring compressor applied!!).
And yes, it´s dangerous, so if your unsure let a pro do it...
I used a third compressor (connected to different points on the spring) as saftey backup, just in case one slid of the spring.
1994 Yellow Firebird 3.4L V6 5spd
Borla, RandomTech Cat, Morroso CAI, MSD DIS-4, MSD coils, ported TB, TB Bypass, relocated IAT, 180° Thermo, Eibach Pro Kit, Bilstein HDs, ES bushings,RAM HD clutch

I used a dremmel to cut off the bolt head and nut one spring came right apart, the other I had to take a hammer to becuase of the rust, not very safe mind you but it's your call.-Brad

If all else fails use a bigger hammer!
