• I can't smoke my tires by powerbraking

When I hit the gas and hold the brake, my rear tires won't smoke. Well sometimes it do, but most of the time it won't. What am I doing wrong. I have the Y87 pkg. with 3.42 gears. Could that be the reason?

Well,
how long are you brake torquing it? You have to do it to a certain rpm to let the tires break loose. You probably aren't holding the brake long enough.

That might be the problem. I usually hold it for about 5 seconds. What rpms should I be at when I do it? I have never floored it. I'm scared of screwing something up.

Hey man I have the w68, with the y87 package and I am in the same boat as you. I cant power brake my car either. Alot of my friends in our car club think im crazy or something cuase they dont believe me when i say my car wont break loose, and it wont.

I havent figured it out either.
but sence we have the 3.42, i heard we have posi, so i think thats what might be it

1 - Hold the brake, not terribly hard but firm.
2 - Step on the gas, keep applying it

If the car rolls, brake harder
If the tires dont squall, keep pressing on the gas

Once the rears are smoking, slowly let off the brake and go smoking forward :D

To do a donut, let off the brake, let her keep rolling forward and whip the wheel in a direction, your car will go spinnin

Have fun and dont hurt anyone - check for cops!!!

I think I have to go in a empty parking lot and practice. I've done it before, so I know it can be done. It just harder with my newer rearend I guess.

ahah be happy tht you guys arent shortening the lifespan of your tires! teehee...yea sometimes it just wont smoke the tire(s)...usually depends on the road as well..dont push the brake so hard...and u have to give it some gas bro..dont flame out! i doubt it will do anythin unless you abuse it..my brakes felt all crappy after i smoked my tire for about 15 seconds! GOOD LUCK..BE CAREFULL!

I don't need to power brake, just half throttle and she spins, and I have posi. I'm a little ways away from stock tho. :D

could the ABS be creating a problem? if this is it press the brak once the release and press it agian then do your "brake stand" as we call it in New York

Yea, that might work. I think my computer and the ABS has alot to do with it.

Just showed off to my neighbors and I got her to shift into a 3rd gear redline spin on my A4. Don't think she'll do 4th yet.

Car shifted 2 times while spinning :D
