I went to the local Savannah Tire today to find out what the best replacement brake pads were for my car. He asked if I wanted the absolute best or just better than stock, so just out of curiosity I said the best. He said the best pads for my car would be the Raybestos Ceramic Brake Pads, because they are ultra quiet, have very long life, and produce very little brake dust. That sounds great, but how good are they at stopping my car??? Do they have to heat up before becoming truly effective?? Also, at the price of $160 to put on the new pads, turn the rotors (resurface them), turn the rear brake drums, and reinstall everything, is it worth it?? Also was curious how good those Z-Rated Performance Friction Carbon Metallic brake pads were. Thanks a bunch!

Ceramic is new technology, and yes those are VERY good pads. Btw, Raybestos is a DANA (dana rear ends) company www.dana.com
$160 for all the labor and the parts?
Whats just the cost of the pads? Honestly changing brakes out is quite simple, even with drums being a little more complex..
Turning the rotors isn't necessary if they're not warped either.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

Two questions for anyone w/ answers... How much are just the pads? and how hard are they on the rotors?? I am getting cross drilled rotors this summer and i would like to not chew them all up Thanx alot.AIS 2 OHH the memories... see the previous post on this item...
I suspect the ceramic pads do less rotor damage than any other and they should stop quite well - they use ceramic wool, which is the closest thing to Asbestos as we can get nowadays - very new technology!
They shouldn't be terribly expensive, what kind of cross drilled rotors are you purchasing? Perhaps you can get them cryo'd so they'll last longer?2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I absolutely LOVE my ceramic pads. I have the NAPA brand, but they were the best the place I went to had.
They fixed my little problem with excessive noise from the regular semi-metallic brand.
And they brake better and have less fade than, the metallics. They are good right from the start, little to no warm-up is needed, they grip hard at startup, even in the winter.
I got new rotors at the same time as I bought the pads, and have had no problems. The rotors are in good condition, considering my very agressive driving tendencies. I've been driving with them for about 8 mos.

Yeah, my Raybestos ceramic pads work wonders. I've never driven a car that will stop this quick. I swear by them. They are quiet and they just plain and simple kick @ss. I have used the Raybestos carbon metallic pads in the past, but not the ceramics. I know that the carbon metallics put out a lot of brake dust, but the ceramics are supposed to be awesome. I use the Performance Frictions now and I am extremely happy with them.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance
