  • 1LE vs. Stock vs. Aftermarket Panhard Bar

Is the 1LE panhard bar better than say a BMR panhard bar? Is the stock one really bad compared to these two. The 1LE can be had for around 30 bucks from GM Parts Direct, but I want to get the best product for my car. Which one should I go with?
    Thanks

The stock one is considered the weakest, mostly because of the stock bushings. You can get into arguments over the 1LE versus the BMR. My personal opinion (I'm no expert) is that, if you are lowering the car, or if your rear axle is visibly not centered, an adjustable BMR is good. If not, the 1LE is a lot cheaper than the nonadjustable BMR.

Hmmm... your sig shows you already have a BMR panhard. I can't imagine that it would be worth changing out, except to center the rear.

Ya that's right V6Bob I do have the BMR, but I have been reading about the 1LE stuff and everyone says good things about it so I thought I would ask.
      Good observation

Have you read the Technical Database, suspension section for binding, and the 1LE section for the history of the 1LE Autocross Package?

Yes I have read all the stuff on the site. What I am looking for is personal opinions and not just a bunch of facts.

So what would improve on a non-lowered car with the 1LE panhard rod?

Would changing the bushings be just as effective as buying the whole piece? I can easily and cheaply do that - if thats the only gain!

But decisions should be made on facts, not opinions. This information lead me to install all 1LE suspension parts. I personally like the change.

The 1LE PHR has high durometer bushings, which greatly reduce the side-to-side movement when cornering.

I agree with FirebierdGT. The 1LE package is a true performer for us aficionados. and I have no complaints on my car since I had it install. it handels great, there is "no" comparison to the stock suspension.
Just my view on the 1LE.
