someone has to have some more opinions. this is basically a street thing. i go to the track like once or twice a year. any places that offer shocks/coilovers cheap? what kind of combo should i go after. any help! ordering very soon.
so, eibach lowering springs would be better to get then? or h&r or whatever? i'd call him up, but i'm most likely not buying anything from him. i'd feel like an *** .
Coil overs are simply more expensive then regular drop springs..
this is what i did (all though sam)
i was thinking about eibahc psrings.. but i decided i wanted a better option for spring rate..
so i went with coil overs.. you can get them at almost any rate you can imagine (in 25 lb increments)..
I got a nice set of shocks (bilstine HD's)
A front end polly bushing kit
and a adjsutable PHR..
its a great combo.. I only have the rears on so far.. but dam.. you gota feal it to belive it!
All and all it cost me about $900.. wich is alot of money.. but i think its worht the extra cash..
for 2 reasons:
with progressive rate springs you will never get a perfect match to a shock..
and i also get to pick my exact ride height this is benifitial in many many ways! for weight distirbution, look, and praticality in real world driving..
a set of eibachs and repalcement shocks will cost you around $600 bucks (for cheepy stuff)..
and you will proabbly want a PHR.. thats another $100..
so.. all an all it only cost me about $150-200
for a much better and custom setup!
IMHO its it totaly worth it.. not ot mention if you want to change your springs to a lower/higher rate its really cheep becase the ones that work with the coil overs are somewhat generic..
so it all depends..
if you jsut want your car to be low and look cool.. just get a set of any old springs/shocks and pray they work out for you..
if you want something adjsutable.. a little more fun.. and that has better gains.. get a set of coil overs..
if you have any more questions call sam (or post here).. you can ask him about my setup (bill brooks).. he is a reallly reallly friendly helpfull guy and KNOWS ALOT not to mention he is all about cutomer service her really bends over backwards to help people!! i probably spent 3-4 hours on the phone with him total working out my suspension and getting all kinds of very helpfull information about auto-x and alightments and sutch..
H&R lowering springs. and KYB shocks. does anyone have any suggestions. maybe a different lowering spring? perhaps a different shock? i think these two will work out fine for me.
Figure out how much your combo will cost. Call Strano, tell him you're trying for the cheapest decent setup, ask for his recommendation and his price. If it's too much more expensive to be worth it to you, you can pass with a clear conscience.
