Decarbons are stock for v8s. v6 shocks just suck, so pretty much anything is an improvement.

DeCarbons are stock on Y87 V6s as well. Check your vin to see if you already have some.

What kind of shocks do we V6s have? Non-Y87s at least...

deCarbons are stock on all 1998+ V6 and V8 firebirds. Its simply the AC Delco name given to the stock shock. They are ORANGE in color.

$50 for all 4 @ SLP, best deal going. Takeoff V8, brand new part, same as what comes on new V6s.

This is not a Y87 option, its standard.

What about for the older 4th gens? I have a 1996...I was thinking about upgrading to the SLP shocks for a while. I think I will...

Upgrading a 96 to the stiffer valved deCarbons is a great idea for a low cost handling modification! Even upgrading it to the new V6 springs is not a bad idea either.

When you said SLP, did you mean the takeoff or the Bilsteins they sell?

I've heard that the deCarbons and Eibachs work fine together. I have the pro kit, and some decarbons with 10 miles on them sitting in my room right now. I was told by many that I shouldn't have any problems with it. So I'm just gonna wait until I get new tires and install them, shocks, springs, and gears all at the same time.

I was talking about I was going to get the take-offs.

What type of shocks does my 96 Camaro have?

                              and

Where can I pick up some stock-type springs or takeoffs...I should replace my springs with the shocks while I'm at it.

Thanks...just spent $700+ on tires...want them to last.
