Your springs now should be good enough for now. If your definitley gonna upgrade then any good aftermarket spring should be fine (eibach sportline or pro kit, sprint, h&r). I wouldn't recommend getting v8 springs because they are made to support the added weight of the v8, so your car would end up being lower in the rear.

For daily driving you will not have a single problem running the deCarbons and an Eibach prokit.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I was talking about I was going to get the take-offs.
What type of shocks does my 96 Camaro have?
and
Where can I pick up some stock-type springs or takeoffs...I should replace my springs with the shocks while I'm at it.
Thanks...just spent $700+ on tires...want them to last.

From my understanding, on the 96-97 models, only Y87 cars got DeCarbons. The DeCarbons of the 96-97 Y87 cars and earlier 4th gen Z28s have slightly different valving, so the SLP takeoffs are still an upgrade from these.
SLP also sells take-off V8 springs if you want SLIGHTLY stiffer springs for cheaper.
Also, the take-off rear springs are the same as on the later 4th gens. Most of this info is in the tech database.

Johnny is right.
Also, from talking on the phone with Sam Strano, he told me the stock shocks should last about the same number of miles (25K for half worn, 40K replace them) with the prokit or the stock V6 springs.
Really, stiffer shocks WOULD be better... but you're not going to find a better shock for cheaper, and I highly suggest not going monroe/kyb or with any other brand. So far nobody has had good luck with any of those - thats for sure.
