Ok guys here's the deal. I'm buying new rotors and pads, and I was wanting to do the install myself but I'm not sure exactly what all is involved in it. I got labor quotes for about $70 but figured that I could probably tackle the job myself. I have never done any work on brake systems, but I am fairly mechanically inclined, I guess I was just wondering if there are any special tools needed, or maybe small parts that have to be replaced and can't be used again. I have a 95 Firebird if that makes a difference. Thanks for any help that you may be able to give me.

What's involved in replacing front rotors and pads?

-Get the car up on jack stands and remove the wheels
-Remove the two allen key bolts from the rear of the caliper (two bolts per side). This is a fairly large allen key, I belive it's a 10mm
-Lift the caliper off of the rotor and remove the pads
-Remove the cap on the master cylinder so you don't buildup pressure when compressing the piston
-Take a large C-Clamp and slowly compress the caliper piston back into the inside of the caliper until you can't compress it anymore.
-As the caliper is off, remove the rotor and place the new one on
-Install your new pads and slide back onto the new rotor you installed
-Retighten the 10mm allen bolts
-Place the cap back on the master cylinder after you make sure there is enough fluid in it
-Bolt the wheels back on, and get the car off of the jack stands
-With the new pads installed, you'll need to set them into place. Start the car, leave it in park, and slowly press the brake pedal a few times until the pedal get's up to normal position. After the pedal feels that it is up to it's satandard position, you can take it for a test ride.
-All done
