  • Eibachs and SLP Bilstien?

Eibach Pro Kit (Or Hotchkis) Lowering Springs w/ SLP Bilstein shocks = good combo??

My Goal: Improve Looks (AKA make the car look like it should) & Handling (looking to get rid of some of that unwanted body roll and nose dive) while not killing the ride.

    Thanks for any input.

I don't think the Bilsteins were valved with lowering springs in mind.

What shocks are good with springs then? I don't want to spend money on Bilsteins if they don't help much on a dropped car...

I know Konis can handle short stiff springs. You can get Bilsteins revalved also.

I doubt me or massive want to spend $1000 for shocks either (I didn't even want to spend the $400 for Bilsteins). How much do Koni's go for?

WHo can revalve the Bilsteins? ANd whats that do for you anyhow? :D Sorry for the barrage of questions, but thats what you get when you're the pioneer being no one else has really answered this

regular bilsteins are not meant for lowered cars but the SLP bilsteins are meant for cars with the Stage 1 handling package, which includes lowering springs.. progressive rate lowering springs at that. They are supposed to lower your car up to an inch. This info is straight from slp. I have heard others (cz28.com) that regular bilsteins with lowered springs wear out very quickly.

            hope this helps

Call that tech line number above. That guy has been in national competition and knows from experience what works and what doesn't. I don't know who revalves them. It's basically meant for making the shock stiffer so they can handle heavier springs.

SLP Bilsteins are softer then HD Bilsteins. I'm having trouble seeing how a softer shock can be better then a stiffer version. I think that's the only difference between them, the valving. I know that some people who have had Bilstein/Eibach combination don't mind it so much. In general Bilsteins are made for stock springs. Konis SA and DA are made for heavy springs. This shock can be adjusted to rock solid. I kid you not. I pushed down on the hatch and the car didn't move an inch. That's on the hardest setting. Maybe one day when I have money I'll get them. It all depends on what you want to do with your car. I'm making mine purely for autoX. Right now I have 941LE shocks with 1LE springs and 1LE sway bars. Well, the front is not done yet. It's too cold to work on my car right now. In 2 weeks I'll post about the handling. Too my surprise it's not oversteering that bad. Just slightly more.

Make sure you match all your suspension components. Springs, shocks, sway bars all work together. Ask guys that autox alot to see what they like and don't.

                Sam Strano revalves Bilsteins.

Check out this thread to see Sam's thoughts on:

                1) Lowering springs & DeCarbon shocks
                2) Lowering springs & Bilstein HDs
                3) SLP Bilsteins

That's a great thread. He is very helpfull. Convinced me to get a 35mm front sway bar when I get some race tires. With my GAs now, I'd be all over the place. Someone find out how much he charges for revalving so we can come out with a final number of revalved Bilsteins versus Konis.
