It's a long metal bar that keeps the rearend from moving side to side. Here is a picture of a panhard bar on an F-Body...(look for the long silver bar)

      Heya,

If you are building a pure drag car, then boxed or tubular w/ poly bushings. Boxed is stronger, but not really needed unless if you plan to be pushing some *really* serious horsepower. Do *not* get poly bushings if you want to improve cornering.

If you care about both cornering and straight line, then rod-end are the best. They will give you the same straight-line performance as the poly bushings, plus much increased cornering ability (especially when accelerating out of a corner). The problem with rod ends is cost (they really aren't outrageous, but they are generally more expensive), and maintenance (the ends have to be replaced every so often -- about once a year).

If you want a compromise (cornering + drag + low cost & little maintenance) go 1LE.

Doing a search will be handy, both on this site, and on ls1.com and ls1tech.com (plenty of suspension advice there). There has been a lot of good discussion on the subject.

If they're on both ends of the lca, yes. The arm will bind when one side of the car tries to come up.
