• Tire size for 17x9.5?

My question is will a 245/45/17 fit on a 17x9.5 rim?

I know 245/45/17 = about 9.6" wide. Anybody tried this?
Thanks,
JAM
02 Firebird GT

Yeah, I want to know if I can go a bit smaller in the front. This is for the set she got me I was telling you about. Just thought 275 width was too much in front. But to match the overall diameter the only one that I could find was a 245. Anybody know if this will work, or has done it?

I had 245/45/17's all around on my TTII's for over a year and it was fine. Here's a pic of my car with the 245/45's to give you an idea. I was more focused on getting a pic of the shine though :D

waxed with 245/45/17's!!

Thanks for the pics. That really give me an idea of what that size looks like. My reasoning is I have ZR1's.

17x9.5 in front
17x11 in rear

and I thought of running

275 in front
315 in rear

but to try and save a few lbs of weight I though if I use the smaller

245 in front
275 in rear

and seems that the 245 will look just fine up front. Specs seem that is about 10 inches wide roughly. I think that should be plenty for the front.

Ideas, comments, advise?

Do you guys know about how much weight this set up will save Vs. the 275/315 combo?

I like the torque thrusts. Where did you get those? Are they the same offsets as the ZR1's?

Anybody else have an idea of about the weight differance?

the 245/45 sidewall will roll in slightly on a 9.5" wide rim FYI. It's not bad at all but something to keep in mind... i thought it looked pretty tight. It may contribute to a little rougher ride if it takes away some sidewall cushion but not bad. i wouldn't go any larger then 275's on your car because you're going to notice a lot more "drag" on the road once you get the bigger tires on.
