  • Rear brake pads and rotors

I need to replace my rear rotors and pads because I ran my car with worn out rotors for a while and it grinded down the rotor.
Now, is the rotor and brake pads on the 97 Y87 camaro same as the ones on the Z28s? Can I just order the rotors and pads off JC Whitney for V8 97 Camaro and will it work?
Also, only one of the pad wore out. the outer pad on the driver's side is the one that wore out all the way and all the other pads were still fine. What could be causing the pads to wear out unevenly like this?

They are the same rotor. As long as you stay within 1993 & 1997 rotors, they will bolt right up without any problems.
As for the uneven pad wear, take your calipers apart and regrease the "pin guides" with a good brake caliper grease. Invest in a Chilton's Book to see what I'm talking about (if you don't have one already).
The top part of the caliper comes off as you remove the two rear screws. Then you'll see the top part has two "guide pins" that MUST be greased, and they become dry over years of use. Mine were bone dry once making the brake shoes wear unevenly too. After I greased the pins, they wear evenly again.
