  • Widest tire size on 18x9.5?????

Whats up guys. I just got brand new 18x9.5 ZR1 replicas and I need some tires for this spring. I have checked all the posts I could find b4 posting this and I just didn't get all the info I needed.

Anyways. What is the widest tires i can throw on these wheels for my 96 bird WITHOUT hammering out wheel wells and all that stuff. I am hoping 305s in the back and 295's in the front
Also is there a big difference in 40s and 45s and whats a better choice. But yeh, How wide can I go??????????

I really wouldnt go above 285. Sure you could put wider tires on them, but you lose some handling when you try to throw a much larger tire on a wheel. Especially if your car is still for road and not just something to take to the track.

    EDIT- Yeah 285, thanks loser.

        he meant 285's ^( silverbird )

i think people have put 315's on them( VERY STUPID), but its NOT , i repeat NOT safe to do. i think the biggest i would go is 285 id personally go with 275's, just becuase its only a v6 and the wider the more expensive. id go 35-40 side wall, and im pretty sure 285's rub in the front, and 315's on the rear your going to have to do some rolling more than likely.

I have 285s on the back, trust me, you won't be disappointed with the looks of it. They look plenty wide.
