  • New Wheels/Tires?

Ok guys I'm faced with a dilemna and I need some quick answers to some pretty simple questions.

First I kinda have 3 options for wheels/tires at this point.

    1. Replace my bent stock wheels with the exact same ones and put some new Goodyear's back on there.

    2. Same as above but change my tire size to 245/50/16 instead of the stock 235/55/16. And replace all the tires with either BFGoodrich KDWs or Firestone Firehawks.

    3. Buy Firehawk rims for the whole car and buy some 275/40/17s on there, probably Yokohama's because the KDW's and Firehawks are too expensive (almost $60 more per tire!). Oh and will my stock lugnuts/caps work with these 17" wheels? They say their OEM fit so I don't see why not.

Personally I'd like to go with option 3 because I love the way the 17's look on f-bodys, especially firebirds. But I might go with option 2 if that falls through (lack of money!). Do you guys think switching to that tire size would look a little better? I know the overall diameter would change but I can afford to lose a little ground clearance anyways. Option 1 is the worst possible scenario, but it's the one my parents think I should do, they have some say so because they've been so kind as to help me out with all this.

So what do you guys think? Give me the pros/cons of each if you can. I'm really trying to decide by tomorrow afternoon!

Look at SLP as they are having a sale on all the above and if you need a second set of wheels for drags, snow, or whatever you have them!

the 17's are a better option. if u don't wanna lose the 1/4" ground clearance, then just put on 285-40-17's. instead of firehawk rims, u could also look at other 17 x 9.5 rims as well.

Ok well I had to stick with the stock rims afterall, no biggie cuz they are chrome BLING!!! Oh and I did get the 255/50/16 Firehawks but earlier today tirerack called and asked me if I was sure I wanted them because they can't guarantee they wouldn't rub my fender well. Do I have to use any spacers or anything to use 255s? Cuz they aren't even as wide as the stock wheel on the V8s, 275, and I heard you can even go wider than that without rubbing.

If your 255 width is on the stock 16x8 rim you will not have any rubbing issues. The only time you have to be concerned with rubbing issues is if you purchase aftermarket wheels and get into using different offsets. However, if done correctly it will not rub either. Hope that helps! ;)
