I know this has been mentioned before, but cant find what Im looking for in a search as far as rim size.

I have brand new 245/50/16 tires in back.
    Need another set of tires.
Thinking of buying rims and moving those tires on new 16x8 rims up front and putting 315/40/17's in the back on 17x11 rims. I will eventually swap the fronts to 245/40/16's. car will be lowered about 1.5"

I shouldnt have any problems with the 17x11's in back should I? and question #2, will the actual tire diameter discrepancy between front and back cause a problem??

Yes...315's on 11" rim will need some clearancing done of the inner fender. The tire diameter will not cause problems.

      OK... first... check this out...

Second... Do not go with a 315/40 tire, what you need is the 315/35 tire. It is within a 1/4 inch the same diamter as the 245/50. Also, the rims should fit ok, but you ARE going to need to take out the bumpstop in the back to fit them. But, I dont htink you will have to roll the fenderwell or anything. Good luck. ;)
