  • need quite a bit of help here

specs: 3.42 rear end; lsd; 3600 stall, 2.6 str, 97% efficient torque converter; 245/50/16 nitto's

dilemma: no traction. even if the nittos are nice and hot, i still spin pretty badly.

i had 2 150+ lb guys sit in the back seats while i had the nittos at the track. i still spun.

i dunno, i'm positive i don't have too much off-the-line torque, cause there are guys pulling 1.5x 60fts all the time. but i do know that my torque has gotten to the uncontrollable point, and i can't launch the car at the track without spinning OR pulling a 2.3+ 60ft with easing on the thing.

the whole reason to mod is to use the stuff you got at it's full potential, correct? well, then what can i do to contain the slipping to minimal or nill?

i've gotten a lot of "man your stall is too high" for far too long. if i'm gonna have the thing, i need to put some real numbers out on the playing field so you guys can realize my torque will surpass that of what you thought i was ever capable of.

i'm selling the nitto's and getting some slicks hopefully, cause i really don't think the nitto's will ever hook, they are actually showing no signs of hooking when i light them up at the track. also, some bmr tubular lca's should be here soon, and i don't think those will help traction, just wheel hop (which i also have), but i'm not sure. thx a lot guys, any suggestions are welcome.

btw--hope i got the right forum?

Running the right pressures (for drag racing!)? Think rear suspension too -- ask for tips on rear sway bar, good LCAs, and disconnect your front sway bar. Might help.

I had a similar problem ... I ran a 10" converter. It was just too much stall. I've since swapped to a 2400 stall unit. It's all good!

I dunno about disconnecting the front bar, unless you are very careful to reconnect it on the street. It would make your car handle like a pickup with a heavy load in the bed, or worse.

It might make a difference on a 500HP car, but on ours? I really doubt you'd notice it.

          List your suspension mods
          Dyno results
          Launch technicque's
          Burn out
          Psi
          EVERYTHING!!!
ET streets make things break, you don't want them.
If, and I mean if, the nitto's can't hok then upgrade to bf goodrcih drag's.

Come to AIS 2 and let me drive it.
          I'll get it to hook

2 nittos: drag radials 555r. basically new, but have about 12 runs on them and they were NOT street driven. they look just like they did when i bought them. they are mounted on 93 16" firebird rims. 245/50/16: $300, i prefer local pickups, but if i had to ship, it's on your dime. i won't take any other offers on these, they go for $300 or they don't go at all

Well, there is one of the problems!!!!
            (copied from for sale section)

12 runs and no street miles???
So then they still have that kinda slick coating then?
Not slick to the hand but slick for a new tire to the ground!

            Put them on the car.
Use them for 2 weeks and then go back to the track.
I run my nitto drag radials as an every day tire.
            Don't sell them.
Drive on them for a while
