  • 94 V6 Suspension dilema

I have a 94 camaro, and currently have 18"'s with 245 and 275 (rear). I am in need of new suspension, and here's what i would like prefer.

    1. Springs that are as stiff as v8 or SS so that i can utilize my 32 mm sway bar... and prolly 19 mm rear.

    2. New shocks, either Bilsteins or KYB AGX..price is somewhat of an issue.

    3. I currently have tubular lower trailing/ control arms, and 1LE panhard bar and LT1 steering rack.

HERES THE QUESTION: I want to lower the car 1" but not drastically b/c i have WW W-Type GrndfX, just want to improve the handling,(no autocrossing) and looks and lower the fender gap. Would V8 1.5 inch drop springs work for me, i know the rear will drop the advertised. but as for the front i will prolly go an inch or not even? I don't want the fron lower really cause of air dam.

As for cost, should i just get low mileage 1LE setup, decarbons springs and just cut the SS oem springs? Should i get new shocks and cut my oem springs? Will stiffer springs really benefit me much? Also, will v6 drop springs be as stiff as v8, for instance eibach 93-97 v6 springs

But to answer your suspension questions... SS springs, KYB AGX shocks, and 32/19 bars, hrm sounds familiar. Yeah, I like that setup.

what kind of bushings do your rear lower control arms have? if its poly-poly you should swap them out for stock, rubber-rod end, poly-rod end or rod end-rod end control arms (rod end-rod end will ride rough as hell but will give the best handling). The poly-poly binds and will be a weak point in your suspension. As for shocks and springs the best bang for the buck is this kit http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=70002 (The strano shocks are better but you will pay for it). Also with that and 275 rear tires you can go with a bigger rear bar (i would suggest no bigger than 21 and no smaller than 19). as for the front a hollow 35 would be a good choice. as for the panhard the 1le is ok but if you end up going with lowering springs you should upgrade to an adjustable one (with the panhard you can go rod end-rod end and not sacrifice any ride quality). If you decide to upgrade the torque arm get an adjustable one or the uncupled one from unbalanced engineering (my favorite).

The SLP kit is for V8's not a V6. I would not recommend it.

Why shouldn't i use V8 1.6 - 2" drop springs, that way my back will sit lower, and the front will only lower less than an inch because of engine weight difference. And i will have the stiff performance suspension i am looking for? I doubt that the engineers put that much thought into performance springs for the v6's. Prolly just figure that v6 guys are after looks only. Also, can i use 98-02 springs, v6 or v8?
