another drum to disk install question... is this how you do it?
another drum to disk install question... is this how you do it?
i found this writeup on another site. besides the fact that i would have to use a different ebrake cable, and not cut it shorter... is this about how i would go about the swap? What would be different? Can anyone who has done this before or is familiar with it plese help me out.
Yes, that is basically how it goes EXCEPT the in diagram #7. There really isn't a backing plate on our f-bods that looks like that. It's basically jumping from #6 to #8, but all-in-all, it's a good walk through.
As for the e-brake cables, you just need to get 2 new ones for disk brakes. Mine didn't need any adjusting at all. It was connect-n-go for me. When the cables are installed, make sure the wheels turn freely with the emergency brake handle dissengaged (down). Pull up on the handle, and keep an eye on the wheels. Adjust accordingly where the two disk brake cables meet up with the single cable going into the body of the car (underneath, above the driveshaft, near the rear of the transmission.)
