The 98 z28 bars are 30mm front/19mm rear, and are better than what we have stock. For free, I'd definetly give them a try.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

You already have a 30mm on the front since you have a 97, and a 17mm in the rear.Robert - owner www.FirebirdV6.com/CamaroV6.com

Swaybars are my least favorite mod, unless you really know what you're doing. Swaybars need to be matched to springs. That's why the V6s swaybars are different than the V8s, different springs.
You can screw up the handling of your car more easily with swaybars than with anything else. People have posted about the dangers of removing GMs rubber spacers or cutting springs. Messing with swaybars is more dangerous than that.
[Just saw your last post]
It could easily make your oversteer crazy with V8 rear springs. The larger V8 rear bar is meant to go with the stiffer V8 _front_ springs.
Like I said....

Im sorry I forgot you had a 97, FirebirdGT is right.
V6Bob, I think you're overreacting. Springs are a much more drastic change than swaybars, I went to a 32/21 setup and it is definetly not insane and works extremely well for me.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

"Springs are a much more drastic change than swaybars"
That is technically incorrect, because commonly available and used springs make less of a change to the handling balance than commonly available and used swaybars. It's not so obvious for several reasons, including:
The fact that springs are rated by stiffness and bars by diameter, which makes the swaybar changes look far smaller than they really are.
The commonly used stiffer front springs create less understeer than a person might think, because the camber curve is improved.
The stiffer front springs make a greater _perceived_ difference to handling in normal driving.
But I think messing with either springs or bars is not the best way to go. I agree strongly with Dominics advice on the "suspension upgrade" thread. First stiffen the chassis, then get better shocks. I'd add better tires.
I agree I'm overreacting (I often do), but I see a lot of the same questionable stuff over and over.
