• Squeeking problem from rear passenger side

I got my car back from the shop from a wreck back in February, where I spun and hit a guard rail on the rear passenger side of the car. About a month after I got it back, this squeeking problem arose and has been getting ever so worse as time goes on. It's coming from the rear passenger side of the car. At first I thought it was my exhaust hangers squeeking, but after crawling under the car I figured out it wasn't that.

When I'd push the car up and down it makes this squeeking noise, sounds kinda like a cricket chirping. When I'm driving down the road, it's constantly squeeking. I've gotten so used to it that I don't even notice anymore, but whenever someone new rides in my car, they're like "wtf, sounds like a cricket". Anyone have any clue what this could be?? If it is something from the wreck, it's too late to take it back to the dealer, and I don't wanna hafta pay to get the suspension checked out somewhere.

Since it only squeeks when the car bounces (which is constantly going down the road, even the tiniest of bumps makes it squeek), and since I could push the car up and down and make it squeek, I'm assuming it's suspension related! :D

i had the same problem, it turned out to be a dry shock bushing. lube it up with silcone spray and then coat it w/vaseline and the squeek should go away.

Where exactly is the shock bushing? I have the same problem.
I assume it's on the shock absorber, but is it on top or bottom or both?

you have to pull up the carpet in the rear compartment to get to the upper part of the shock.
then take off the nut and washer from the top part of the shock, using silicone spray, spray up the bushing making sure you spray under the metal part of the body where the lower bushing is, then coat the bushings w/vaseline, that should do the trick.

and don't worry about the shock popping up or anything... you'll be fine. Like burtcam said, fold your rear seat down and there should be some "flap" shaped perforations in your carpet on the left and right sides. if you have to, use a box knife to break them free, fold them back and pull the foam out. it's all easy access from there and when you're done the carpet will fold back up without a problem (you won't even be able to tell you were in there.).

good luck
