SLP Eibach Springs + Bilstein HD , any comments?

  • SLP Eibach Springs + Bilstein HD , any comments?

    Yep.

    I want improved handling and corner grip with a slight drop for improved looks.

    SLP Eibachs provide that slight drop and why wouldn't the HDs work alongside them fine?

    Any comments?

    Will the fact that they are meant for a V8 affect anything negatively either?

    Eibach makes springs specifically for V6 cars, the SLPs are made for V8s. As to the HDs, everything I've seen has said that they shouldn't be used with aftermarket springs, because they will wear the HDs out quicker. One option would be the SLP Bilsteins, or get ahold of Strano, and either get his production revalved shocks, or he can do custom revalving.

      if you go with the SLP eibachs go with the SLP bilsteins. They were designed to work together. Ill give you a discount off the price if you buy both sets.

        I just ordered a set of Bilstien shocks and the Eibach pro kit for my Bird. So you guys are saying that this would not be a good set up and that the lowering springs will actualy wear out the shocks faster? Hmmm...thats not a good thing. The shocks are on a two week back order and i just paid $307 for the Bilstiens and $193 for the pro kit, i would hate to find out that i just wasted my money.

          go over to camaroz28.com and ask around there.. you will find some very strong opinions against the bilstein HD combo and lowering springs..

            Ugh.

            As for the Eibach Pro Kit - I don't want to drop my car that much. It's almost low enough. The SLP Eibach's lower it under an inch - perfect.

            The HDs couldn't hold up even though the springs are under an inch lower than the stock springs?!?

            I guess I could go with the entire SLP setup but I know those shocks are softer and I'd rather have them stiffer.

              It's not the height of the springs that's the issue, it's the tension of the springs. The HDs are valved to work with stock rate springs, the eibachs are stiffer, which means they bounce less and rebound harder. On the boubce side, the HDs probably wouldn't have a problem, but on the rebound side, the springs would be overworking the shocks.
              The SLPs are actually valved harder, with a higher rebound rate than the HDs. With stock springs, the SLPs would be too much (per Sam Strano) because the springs wouldn't have enough rebound energy to overcome the shocks. So, the SLPs would probably work well with the Eibachs.
              As has been suggested before, check with Sam Strano, he can give you suggestions as to what will work for you.

                  This is from last nights experience. I was working on a 2001 SS with SLP suspension packadge. It had SLP Bilsteins. These are valved softer then HDs. Added things included: Eibach Sportlines, Adj. PHR, 19inch wheels. Car was setup for shows. It looked good, but rode horrible. With the Eibach Sportlines it was lowered so there was almost no gap in the wheel wells. It was very bouncy. Bilsteins couldn't handle the spring. I took some coil overs. 450lbs in front, around 150 in the rear. You can ajust the ride height with them. Adjusted them to almost stock height. Rear was adjusted as high as it would go. There are some rail roads by my house. I drive through them at high speeds. My 1LE shocks/springs feel solid yet comfortable. This car after the change with stiffer springs felt very good. No more bouncy ride. It was controlable. Time to hit the batting cages with Keith.

                    im in the same boat as cale... wasnt lookin for the drop, just a better ride if i had to go with the pro kit i'd run em with the slp blistens.

                    has anyone had any problems with these springs and shocks i should know about?
                    any other better deals/combinations out there?
                    i know the blisten package was designed for the v8, but they should handle the drop fine, might not drop the whole 1.25" but i scrape runnin over small animals(jk). any feedback is appreciated.
