  • Tie End Rods question.

I did the wiggle test and I do get a little play putting my hands at 9 and 3 oclock. Should there be no play?? Everytime I hit a little bump or pot hole with the front left tire is makes a thump/clunk sound. It's louder when driving in the 20-50 range. Crusing on the highway is fine unless one of those really nasty bumps ( I live in mass, ****tiest roads ever). It's gotten progressively worse and my steering wheel isn't straight it's a little off center. The steering is tight, not loose. I'm guessing Tie end rods. Any suggestions?

Some manufacturers allow a certain amount of play in their front end. But If you feel any play it sounds like its definatly one of the tierods. If you have a friend have someone shake the wheel side to side and hold on to the outer tierod and feel for looseness, then do the same for the inner. After doing tierods you'll definatly need an alignment to straighten out the wheel. I would recommend doing it soon because when your front end is missaligned or messed up it will whipe out your front tires.
