  • what tire size for these rims?

Im thinking about getting new wheels that are smaller, the size will be 17" and 8.5 wide...

should i get like 255s? i want a slight lip to it... any pics? of 8.5 wide rims and the tires that are on them? thanks!

17x8.5 can handle up to a P265... Most people run P255/45R17s on them for these cars (common size, lots of tire choices).

If you want a lip I believe 275s can be squeezed on them (P275/40) with care and still be safe, but check tirerack to verify.

well i checked tirerack, they dont carry any 265/45s... they have a few 40s but they are too expensive... i guess ill just go with 255s since they have the cheapest size tire and there are a lot of choices....

any idea what those will look like on the 8.5 rim? anyone got 8.5 wheels with 255 tires?

45 sidewall is pretty big for a 17" wheel...

That only depends on the width tho, 45 can be to big or to small because its just an aspect ratio.

245/45R17 would also work well, and has the same overall diameter as a 275/40R17 or the 245/50R16.
