Ok don't flame me to death for this idea. However I'm trying to create a suspension setup that would do decent for drifting. Mostly because I think it would be fun and shocking to the import guys to see a v6 fbody join one of the drifting events.

I believe this would be on of a few cases where a 21mm rear sway bar would be a good thing. However I need help from people that know more about suspension than me since I know just about nothing. Any suggestions? (an no "Don't bother" or "Your a moron" are not valid suggestions , however other witty comebacks will be accepted)

I'm there with you man. Where are you in Texas? I'm getting setup for autox/drifting. As far as a suspension goes. Get a lsd, coil-overs, good swaybar combo (I'm workin on that one), and subframe connectors, and a strut-tower brace. IM me if you need any more advice. -B

Do they make a 2 lock SLD for our cars?
so it will lock fully in acceleration and decceleration

I'm thinking 32 front 22 rear or so would probably do nicely if you can keep it under control.

I'm going to texas tech at the moment but I'm from austin.

If you want to know about f-body suspension, I would reccomend that you contact sam strano (www.stranoparts.com). Do some research on f-body suspension in general though just to get an idea about what the weaknesses of the car are, and where to start. Check out the road racing forum on www.ls1tech.com, and also just look around on www.stranoparts.com. BTW, I go to Tech too. What year are you?

            "Bo,

Drifting is interesting. You need the car to be a little looser than say someone like me who autocrosses. However, it HAS to be controllable or you can't hold the drift.

I wouldn't worry about the springs at all. I'd DEFINITELY use some really good shocks, like Koni's. Reasons for Koni's? Easy, so you can tune the damping to get the front and rear of the car to react well to each other. This is going to be important since you have to drift around a course, and not just one corner. That means there will be transitions involved, which means you have to damp body motions.

Since you car is a V-6, I'd not run a 32mm front bar. I'd upgrade to the stock 30mm bar from the V-8 cars (I have a couple), and start with their stock rear 19mm bar. Maybe add a 21mm if need be.

However, what I've found to be a great boon to drifting, is actually that big Torsen T2R diff. See, it torque biases so well that if it tries to spin the inside rear tire, the power is put to the outside rear tire. That takes some of the cornering grip away from that tire, which means the car will go sideways easier. And the Torsen works seemlessly. Not jerks or lurches to upset the car.

            - Sam Strano"
