  • Suspension upgrades

    Just like there is a normal flow of upgrades when going for more power.
    What is best to install first as far as suspension.

    Drop, strut bars, sway bars, etc........

    How much power are you adding? Is your suspension all stock? What do you use the car for (just a driver, drag, autoX, etc?)

      OK, for a non power adder or fully built v6 you dont have to do much to get the car to hook and you cant launch like a beast so you should be looking at handling upgrades only. To stiffen the chasi subframe connectors are your best friend. After that if it still isnt quite as stiff as you want it you can throw a strut bar on (it will add a little but not much). Now for conrering you should invest in a new set of gas shocks and possibly coil overs. Then front lower a-arms, or rear lower control arms. you really dont need an upgraded panhard bar or torque arm untill you start having traction problems but even then a good set of performance tires will usually solve your problem.

        Why do you say that you can't launch like a beast? With the proper tire and suspension pieces on a mild bolt on car, you can pull 1.7/1.8 60' times without a problem. That's not too shabby for a 3.8, eh?

          1. Tires

          2. Shocks

          If your shocks are old, reverse the order.

            I was told that if you are going for pure off the line, we are talking for like pure power, then you want a panhard, some lcas, tires, drag launch springs(make them for 6?), and then push from there.

              * proper tires
              * a good shocks and springs setup
              * LCAs and a panhard rod is a must for launching with power and wheel hop
              * torque arm
              * so on and so on.........

                Yes for launching you start from the other end of the spectrum but if this is your daily driver you will probably enjoy handling mods better. if you go to the track then launching mods are for you.

                  My car is my DD but I also go to the track alot. First thing I did was get some good tires, then I got a BMR STB..I just ordered some BMR LCA's. After the LCA's I'm going to get some new shocks and subframe connectors, followed by a panhard bar and alum. driveshaft.

                  After all that I'll start doing actual power upgrades :D

                      I use it as my daily driver, but I like to drive really hard and plan on trying some sutocrossing and track days.

                      Well right now I have a catback system and rim/tire package. I put the fuzion zri tires on it.

                          I think they are z rated not that i'm going to need a z rated tire. But they sell for about a hundred bucks a piece. They are supposed to have a pretty wide range of sizes available. I can't really compare them to anything because the tires I had before them were bald kumho's. But I like the fuzion, they grip good, even in downpours at 7mph0.
