It's not the connectors but the location. The 98+ ABS sensors are at the wheels (one at each wheel), 93-97 ABS sensor is in the rear end (one sensor acting for both). The 93-97 ABS therefore has 3 inputs, 98+ has 4 inputs.
You could use the 98+ calipers if you DON'T use the integral ABS sensors.
