  • Lowering car? question

I recently put new rims on the car and it looks like a 4x4 O_o So I plan on lowering it, im pretty sure im getting eibach sportlines (got a really good price on them) But im wondering if its NECCESARY to change my shocks. I really dont have the money to do it right now. So do I need to change shocks with such a large drop from stock?
    thanks in advance

how many miles do you have on your 99? to answer your question bluntly no you don't need new shocks, however, it is strongly recommended. springs will wear out stock shocks very quickly so assuming yours are fine now and you install new springs, expect your ride to get rough w/in the next couple months. i installed my h&r's and slp take-offs about 2 years ago and i think i'm ready for new shocks. if i had the money i'd get slp bilsteins, but until i can find a new job that has to wait.

just save up the money for some take-offs. i think theyre only like $100 from slp.com. shouldn take too long, youll just have to make sacrifices... like no more strip clubs, porn, hookers, $250 dates just to get a peck on the cheek at the end... oh wait, that used to be me, sorry :D . really though, the shocks only have like 5 miles on em and that will give you plenty of time to save, grnted you dont give in to temptation described earlier.

cut the springs with a portaband and get the v 8 takeoff shocks... cutting springs ain't that bad go to the ls1 forums them guys do it all the time and find out exactly just how much to cut off..i know some will respond to this negatively to this but i did it to a friends car and it rides beutifully.. iwish i would have done it i would have saved 225 i spent on my lowering springs

cutting springs is one of the worst mods out there.

first it kills your shocks its proven.
second it changes yours spring rate and the compression ratio. ive drven cars that have done it and it drives like $h!t. yea it looks ok and its cheap but what a bad idea!!
