I'm doing a swap to an LT1 rear, and picked it up today. The V8 rear sway bar is still on there. When I get the rear put on, shoudl I have them just leave the V8 one or will it be too detrimental to the handling?? Would I be better off having them transfer the v6 bar?

Question about rear sway bar

If you used the V8 rear bar, you would want to use the V8 front one, cause the ratio needs to match.2002 Pewter V6 Camaro M5 <br /><br />Quickest stock-motor N/A V6 4th Gen F-body.<br />2nd Quickest N/A V6 4th Gen F-body overall.<br />mods: Gear, weight reduction, tuning <br /><br />Fear the Gear. 13.585 @ 100.05 1.827 60\'<br /><br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.NJFBOA.org\" target=\"_blank\">www.NJFBOA.org</a>

When I bought the 95 T/A rear in July of '03, it already had the V8 swaybar attached, so I kept it on. I never changed the front at all, and it felt just fine.
Just recently I went to a 1LE front swaybar, and now the car seems to take corners alot better!sigpic

My original post here was wrong, because Savage Messiah has V8 springs (missed that the first time around), so I think Little G and shenanigans have it about right. The V6 has slightly more rear weight, but I don't think that's enough to cause the bad oversteer FireFighter got, presumably because he had V6 springs.
Sway bars and springs need to be compatible.

I was just going to say here comes v6bob but, he already replied.
I had my 1le rear bar way before my front one, the oversteer was pretty bad until I got use to it. It really sucked in the rain.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5<br /> <a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615</a>

Before you get a v8 front one, check the tech database, I believe 93-97 had same front sway bar, 30mm, v6s had a 17mm rear and v8s had a 19mm rear.
As for 98+ v6s, they had 28mm front, 15mm rear.
I'd do it. Even by bobs, strict opinion on sway bars, you should do fine, he says not to use v8 swaybars on v6 springs but you have v8 springs, just a little less weight in the front.
Also a bigger rear helps you keep the rear end flatter on a drag launch, helping with traction(if you have lsd)-Eric<br /><a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/mustangeater82\" target=\"_blank\">2000 NBM V6 Camaro 5-speed</a> T-top <i>converted</i><br /><b>14.467@95.45mph</b> <i>$0 in mods</i><br /><i>The member formerly known as MustangEater8251</i>

Because you have V8 springs, I don't think it would be a bad choice at all, provided you get (or have) the V8 front bar also. My earler post above was wrong (missed the V8 springs in your sig), I've edited it.2000 Firebird convert, chameleon/tan, M5, Y87, TCS, BMR tower brace and panhard, KBDD sfcs, 245/50-16 GSCs

I had sprint springs with AGX's. With just the rear bar on the 16's it would oversteer bad. With the 17's or 18's(take your pick, I had both) The oversteer wasn't as bad but still very bad in the rain.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5<br /> <a href=\"http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615\" target=\"_blank\">http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615</a>
