  • Which Tires? 225/60/R16's

Well, it's time for new tires as my GoodYear RS/A's are bald.

    The size is 225/60/R16

It came down to these because I'm going to college and I have to be pretty cheap about my rubber and I can't wait for any orders...

Goodyear American Eagles - 60K Mile Warranty
    $72 per tire

Douglas Passenger Tires - 80K Mile Warranty
    $69 per tire

Douglas Performance Tires - 40K Mile Warranty
    $71 per tire

    What do you guys think?

Go with a 245/50/16, They are probaly cheaper too because its a more common size. I would stay away from good for one years.

agreed, but 245/50/16's will be more expensive. they are however cheaper than 235/55/16's. Of the tires stocked in our shop the 245/50/16's run about $109-ish and the 235/55/16's start around $115 or so.

225/60/16's are passenger car tires deisgned for lincoln town cars and caddilacs etc.. Even a tire that claims to be *performance* in that size is probably H-rated at best.

There is a tire in the 225/60R16 size that will compliment the suspension of an F-Body. This will be the General XP-2000V4. I have used these for a long time on Knoxville's Police Cruisers. They are Pursuit rated and carry a V speed rating. If you inflate them at an even 35psi, they will wear good and last you a while longer than GoodYear or Firestone PV41, Goodyear RSA wearing out quickly and Firestone PV41 for thier severely outdated tread design (bad cases of chunking) I hope this helps a little.

I got my Firestone Indy 500's, size 245/50/16, for 88 bucks each. Tirerack.com. Shipping was 36 for all 4. The tires are pretty good. Have really good wet handling, do pretty good in the snow, corner great, and are really quiet. Plus the new "Uni-T" technology, or something like that. Pretty much, the belts in the tires are supposed to be endless, like a solid ring. Making them harder to break. Either way, I have no complaints about my tires.
