  • considering not using the new rear sway bar......

untill I get some wider tires. I will admit I am not the most knowledgeable person when it some to suspension setups, but this is what I have sitting in my room. H&R springs with KYB AGX shocks, along with a set of Spohn 32/22 sway bars. I am thinking the 22 bar will cause too much oversteer untill I can go with some 275's on 17X9's. I currently have 245's on the stock 16's. what do you guys think of putting everything on cept the 22 and wating till I get wider tires?

i really dont think tire size is the best solution (the 345's should be fine). you might want to just look into a slightly smaller pair of sways.

I think your setup is all wrong, I'll buy it for $200.

I'd either get a 19mm rear sway, or a 35mm front sway, I'd aim for the 35mm front sway.

I think the 32 is fine for the front, the rear i think a 1LE would set you off just fine.

1LE set has been known to be a littl much in the oversteer...

          alot of autocross guys run...
          35/21 or 22
          or
          32/19

1LE is 32/21, I believe its a closer ratio do to the 1LE stiffer spring rate, I think they bumped up the ratings on the front springs alot.

          Just my opinon though.

Or you could just consider doing it all and trying it out and seeing how you like it. May not be ideal, but maybe you enjoy a little more oversteer in your driving style but thats up to you.

If not you could always get a stock v8 19mm cheap, possibly free, until you save up and can get a 35mm front if you ever want to go to that.

DO NOT use a 32/22 with 245/16 tires. You need at least the 275/17.

I had 32/21 with 275/17 and it oversteered slightly, changed to 245/16 for the winter and had "scary" oversteer. Now have a 35mm front and that is not enough. I'm going to a 19mm rear, and next fall will go back to the 275/17, but an all season tire rather than a summer tire.

I don't understand (or believe) that tire size, if equal on all 4, will make a significant difference. You still have the bad behavior (oversteer) just at a faster and even harder to control speed.

"i really dont think tire size is the best solution ... you might want to just look into a slightly smaller pair of sways.
                "

                Bingo.

I just don't understand the fascination with big rear sway bars. The rear bar is a tuning device for your car, not a serious contributor to roll resistance. You need the _right_ size rear bar and 22 ain't it. It's like putting a full race cam on a stock motor, it just won't work. And the full race cam doesn't have the potential to send you spinning out of control, like a big rear bar does.

And, for the umpteenth time, 1LE is 32/19, not 32/21. GM tried 21s on a very few cars back when they first put out 1LEs as a competition only car, and dumped it fast - no doubt the racers said it was too big. 99+% of 1LEs came with 32/19. Saying a 21 rear is 1LE is just a marketing thing for guys who want to sell 21s and know they can't sell the easily available 19s.

Hey Andy, you have driven my car. It has 32/19 on 275 17x9.5 tires. How did it feel to you?

oh, I kinda forgot to mention, I ordered the sways thinking I would have the money to start auto cross'n this year. thats the big reasont he rear is so big. I had been considering getting a seciond set for street use but now that my transmission ****ed up a few weeks ago I no longer have the option for racing for a while so I am stuck with either 10 year old stock componets or what I have stated above. what about using the 32 with the stock rear? or would that cause way too much understeer?

If you need suspension help, talk to sam strano , he is very good with F-bodies. www.stranoparts.com . He won ESP autocross nat'ls twice I believe. He knows what he's talking about and knows the ins and outs of the f-body like no one I've talked to.

32/21 was used on the 1LE package ONLY for the 93 cars with the stock suspension. In 94+ the 1LE package used the stock 19mm and went to different springs.
